The beauty of financial support makes Lindsey’s dream a reality
It's so dreary outside and walking into this place is like entering another world - so warm, calm and peaceful Client of The Apothecary Salon
Lindsey Jones had dreamed of owning her own beauty salon for many years. That dream finally became a reality in May 2016 when she opened The Apothecary Salon in her home village of Tickhill, South Yorkshire.
Having previously offered beauty treatments from her home, when Lindsey committed to the purchase of a retail premises she approached Finance for Enterprise for help with securing the finance she needed to renovate the shop. Initially needing just a start up loan to renovate the shop her business advisor, Gillian Pickard, helped Lindsey secure a loan of £3,000. However a couple of stressful setbacks during the renovation works left Lindsey in need of a top up loan too. Gillian guided her5 through the task of applying for the second loan of £2,000 which required special dispensation measures. With the cashflow issues resolved, the renovation work was completed and the salon opened.
The support initially given to Lindsey focussed on preparing a business plan and financial forecasting in order for her to successfully apply for a start up loan. The setbacks she suffered during the renovations left her with serious cashflow issues and a salon that was yet to open.
However, the terms of her first loan stated that she needed to have been trading for 6 months before she could apply for a top up loan. With help from Finance for Enterprise Lindsey successfully applied for special dispensation due to her circumstances and received a second loan. Without the constant support Lindsey would not be planning further growth and looking to hire a second employee and an apprentice.
Lindsey Jones is a client of Finance for Enterprise on behalf of Cavendish partner National Enterprise Network delivering business support in the West Midlands.
Under the Start & Grow programme Lindsey received 20 hours of support and attended specific training days. She raised £5,000 finance to top up her personal investment and has created 3 jobs.
