Care company benefits from external support
We had the attitude and determination to make things happen, but it was good to have a dedicated advisor reviewing our plans and supporting us Victoria Jobson
After spending time providing care for family members, and being disappointed at the lack of genuine care available both in a domicile and palliative capacity, Victoria and Peter Jobson decided to set up Collingwood Care to provide a high standard of care to those needing it most, with the hope that their high standard might aspire others and, over time, change the perception of the care industry.
With excellent experience behind them both in care and management, their biggest challenge was to write a business plan to raise funding for their new business. The Jobson’s worked with Enterprise First advisor Julie Easterbrook and Julie suggested that the Start & Grow programme could offer the long term support and mentoring that they required.
The Start & Grow programme gave them the business support and financial advice that they needed, and although the funding application was not successful, the support from Julie was invaluable. Through the programme Julie gave them feedback on their business plan, marketing advice and access to various funding sources to approach. The Jobson’s found the funding disappointment very stressful but fortunately had the belief in their business to keep going.
Julie supported them through these times and helped ensure that the business became a reality. They now employ three staff with another potential three vacancies to fill in the near future.
Victoria and Peter received business support on the Start & Grow programme through Enterprise First. They have had the benefit of 16 hours of support to date and are taking advantage of on-going training days. Their business has created 5 jobs.
