Pure Greenhouses and the Start & Grow initiative sow the seeds for business success

Without question our business wouldn’t be in the position it is now without the guidance and advice given by the Start and Grow team. Joe Ellis

In October 2014 Joe Ellis and Matt Howis started developing a product this was a frameless greenhouse, the idea was to create a greenhouse that you would be proud to place in your garden and not want to hide in the corner. In June 2015 the research and development of the product was complete and Pure Greenhouses was launched.

Developing the product from the start, they had to ensure it would work and withstand tough weather conditions before they launched a business to back it.  One of their challenges was raising awareness of the product, and getting it into the media outlets that reached their potential customers.

The £50,000 secured through Virgin StartUp provided Joe and Matt with the money they needed to help launch the business.

The programme provided them with support at a level they could have never expected. Ed Tellwright and Alyson Eyval provided help to perfect the justification paperwork and the relevant figures needed to secure the loan from virgin. The pair also has membership to the Business West Chamber of Commerce which will provide them with support and guidance as they look to expand and even as they look to export.

Joe Ellis and Matt Howis are clients of Business West, delivering business support in the South West.

Under the Start & Grow programme, Joe and Matt received 49 hours of business support and attended 3 training days.  They leverages £115,000 funding and invested £54,500 personal funds into the business.  Two jobs have been created.
